Protect the Collective is a community-centered initiative designed to connect people, organizations, knowledge, and resources to strengthen communities and make meaningful action easier.
Rather than duplicating work that already exists, PTC helps identify resources, build connections, fill gaps, and share successful ideas across communities.

Communities already contain valuable people, programs, organizations, skills, and knowledge. PTC helps bring those pieces together.
Support local action.
Every community has different needs. Local participants determine their priorities while using shared tools and resources from the larger network.
Share what works.
Successful ideas, projects, and resources can be documented and adapted so other communities do not have to start from zero.
Make participation accessible.
Residents, educators, organizations, businesses, experts, artists, creators, students, and public figures can contribute in different ways. No one person is expected to do everything.

People do not need to agree on every issue to work together where their values overlap.
One community may focus on education. Another may prioritize food access, clean water, housing, local businesses, environmental protection, or community health.
PTC provides a shared structure while communities determine what matters locally.
The Long-Term Goal
Protect the Collective is being built to become larger than any individual person.
The goal is a lasting network where communities can find one another, share knowledge, access resources, organize locally, and turn collective concern into practical action.

HOW PTC WORKS
Protect the Collective is a shared network that helps communities find what already exists, connect what is separated, and build what is missing.
Each community leads locally while contributing knowledge, resources, and successful ideas back to the larger network.
1. IDENTIFY
Start with what a community needs — and what it already has.
Local issues, existing organizations, programs, businesses, schools, experts, resources, and opportunities are identified before creating something new.
2. CONNECT
Bring the right pieces together.
Residents, nonprofits, educators, businesses, researchers, creators, local leaders, and other community members can contribute based on what they already know, have, or do.
3. ACT
Turn connection into practical local action.
A community might strengthen an existing program, organize a project, address a resource gap, support local organizations, educate residents, or advocate for a community need.
4. SHARE
Document what works.
Useful resources, partnerships, project models, research, and lessons can be shared across the PTC network so other communities have a starting point.
5. REPLICATE
Adapt successful ideas to new communities.
PTC chapters do not have to operate identically. Communities can take what works elsewhere and adapt it to their own needs, resources, and culture.
6. GROW THE COLLECTIVE
Every new participant strengthens the network.
Community Collaborators contribute their skills, knowledge, relationships, or time.
Local Chapters organize connections and action within their communities.
Organizations & Experts contribute existing resources and specialized knowledge.
Schools & Universities contribute education, research, students, and community partnerships.
Businesses contribute local knowledge, resources, skills, and support.
Artists, Creators & Public Figures use their platforms to connect more people with meaningful action.

PTC does not require every community to work on the same issue.
It creates the infrastructure for communities to work locally while learning from one another nationally.
